Penthouse Interior Design Case Study: Camouflage Doors & Productive Workspace

Every interior design project presents challenges that need to be solved, and each of these challenges is an important part of the process. Every design element, whether it is material selection, layout planning, or creating the desired atmosphere, always brings its own case study. One of the challenges that will be discussed in this article is the Penthouse project in South Jakarta.
Penthouse Interior Design Exploration
In this interior design project, our designers were given the challenge to design several rooms, namely bedrooms and workspaces, which adhere to the principles of comfort and tranquility with an elegant American classic style. Here is a more detailed explanation of the case study.
Harmonizing Comfort and American Style in the Bedroom
The bedroom is a space that must provide comfort and tranquility for the client. "We carry the American style which is known for its warm and elegant impression, with a combination of classic furniture and modern nuances that are very suitable for creating a peaceful atmosphere," said Jean, Homprep interior designer in handling the atmosphere of the client's room. In this bedroom, we use a neutral color palette such as cream, gray, and light brown, which gives a spacious impression.
The furniture chosen has a sturdy and elegant design, but still maintains practicality and comfort. A bed with a large and soft headboard, coupled with high-quality linen, provides optimal comfort. In addition, lamps with a minimalist design provide soft lighting that further supports the relaxing atmosphere.
Design Challenge: Camouflage Door in Bedroom
One of the main challenges in this design project was to create a camouflage door in the bedroom that looks integrated with the rest of the interior. The client wanted the door to not only function as an access, but also as a neatly hidden design element, because behind the door there will be a private room and dressing room that require full privacy. "To achieve this, we used panels with a Duco finish to make it look perfect and also anti-termite and environmentally friendly," said Jean.
This door design is also equipped with a practical mechanism system, allowing the door to open and close easily, even though it is hidden behind the design elements. As a result, we managed to create a door that not only functions practically, but also reinforces the calm and organized atmosphere in the bedroom.
Workspace: Creativity in Design
Our client is a professional who needs a comfortable and functional workspace. “For the workspace, we wanted to create an atmosphere that supports productivity while maintaining serenity,” said Jean. Given the importance of lighting in a workspace, we placed a statement lamp above the work desk that builds the atmosphere of the space. The client did not want to eliminate the American element in the workspace to keep it linear with the bedroom, so Jean and her team combined natural elements such as wood in multifunctional furniture for shelves, tables, and chairs.
We also combine American elements with functionality, where there are many storage spaces in the workspace. "That is so that the client's accommodation in working can be done efficiently and neatly," explained Jean.
